What are your best tips for reducing spending and saving money when trying to get out of debt?
I always pay myself first out of my paycheck usually a few hundred $s go directly to savings. Next I pay my immediate bills such as cell phone, rent, electricity, etc. Then I would pay my credit card debt. (I'm debt free :) now.) I targeted the lowest balance and paid as much as I could on it while making the min. amts on the other.
I went on a "debt diet" meaning I didn't spend $ on extras. I wrote down all my spending and cut out what I didn't need. I stayed away from the mall etc.
I didn't have to but you might want to consider a second job just to help you pay off your debt.
I also learned all kinds of things from www.daveramsey.com
What's the quickest way to get out of debt?
Okay, two answers I don't need:
1. "Dedication and commitment". I've already got them, and I've been working steadfastly over the past year, contributing all that I can to my payments. I've eliminated all spending from my life that I possibly can. Now I need to find how I can accelerate the payoff.
2. Smart-ass responses. I'm genuinely asking for tips or tricks that have worked for others. (i.e., good ways of increasing income, companies that can help reduce debt, etc.)
I've been in a debt whirlpool for the past 3 years because I was never educated against it. Now I'm trying to crawl back out of this hole.
Any more tips I might have missed? (-and yes, I am a homeowner, but I've only owned it since November of '05)
Thanks...
contact your lenders and advise that you may have no alternative but to file bankruptcy ( assuming you already havent) work out a no interest payment plan, dont go to 'debit free' or one on those kind of companies , as they would do the same thing for you , though they will charge you like $39.00 a month for their 'service' and you will be locked in for the duration of the payout which can be 4-5 years, and at 5 years you'll be paying an additional fee to them in the amount of $2,340.00 @ 39.00 a month, which you would be better off applying that amount towards your pay off. Good luck.

Negotiation tips for debt settlement?
I'm about to negotiate with a collector on a debt. I want to either make monthly payments or a reduced lump sum. What's the best thing to say to the collector (without blatant lying) that'll make the collector more agreeable? Also, what is the best time of the week or day to call?
you signed a contract -- your received your goods/services -- why the negotiation -- do the manly thing and just paid your honest debt or are you going to cheat yourself through the rest of your life!!!.
The subprime crisis is only the tip of the iceberg for an Economic Meltdown?
Is the subprime crisis part of the cyclical boom-bust system or is it a major economic meltdown or both?
1987 - 30% market crash investors lost 10% of 1987 GDP, set off by the 1985 Plaza Accord to push up the Japanese yen with an aim of reducing the growing US trade deficit with Japan.
1997 - Asian Financial Crisis all Asian economies going broke. The DJIA dropped 7.2% and the NY Stock Exchange had to suspend trading briefly to break the free fall.
2007 - a Debt Driven Financial crisis threatens to put an end to the decade-long liquidity boom.
Should we salvage our money by relocating overseas? I dont think overseas markets are tainted with subprime debt.

Very Shocking Video about the Subprime Crisis.
Help! I Need your reply. Thank You.
Overseas markets are totally tainted by US debt.
After all, the US borrows huge volumes of money from other countries.
The 'mortgage problem' has also spead to multiple countries because foreign banks bought CDOs (subprime debts wrapped up to look like AAA assets) for a long time without full appreciating the risk.
Northern Rock (UK), and IKB (Germany) are only the first of what will be a significant number of banks/lending institutions that will appear in the finance headlines next year.

/ "One day before the Israeli air strikes, the main partners and
shareholders of the BTC pipeline project, including several heads of
State and oil company executives were in attendance at the port of
Ceyhan. They were then rushed off for an inauguration reception in
Istanbul, hosted by Turkey's President Ahmet Necdet Sezer in the plush
surroundings of the Çýraðan Palace. Also in attendance was British
Petroleum's (BP) CEO, Lord Browne together with senior government
officials from Britain, the US and Israel. BP leads the BTC pipeline
consortium. Other major Western shareholders include Chevron,
Conoco-Phillips, France's Total and Italy's ENI. (see Annex) Israel's
Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Binyamin Ben-Eliezer was present
at the venue together with a delegation of top Israeli oil officials.
The BTC pipeline totally bypasses the territory of the Russian
Federation. It transits through the former Soviet republics of
Azerbaijan and Georgia, both of which have become US "protectorates",
firmly integrated into a military alliance with the US and NATO.
Moreover, both Azerbaijan and Georgia have longstanding military
cooperation agreements with Israel. In 2005, Georgian companies received
some $24 million in military contracts funded out of U.S. military
assistance to Israel under the so-called 'Foreign Military Financing
(FMF) program'." /The War on Lebanon and the Battle for Oil by Michel
Chossudovsky
The corporate mind control apparatus is primed and pumped to propagate
the party line about Israel's right to defend itself (by engaging in
acts that would be deemed war crimes if committed by people of color),
being AmeriKKKa's only democratic ally in a volatile region and now with
the bogus tape supposedly from al CIA Qaeda's second in command Ayman
al-Zawahiri calling for an all out jihad against Israel the US media
will go hog wild justifying the butchery Israel has unleashed in Lebanon
and Palestine. "CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader issued a
worldwide call Thursday for Muslims to rise up in a holy war against
Israel and join the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza until Islam reigns from
'Spain to Iraq.' In a taped message broadcast by Al-Jazeera television,
Ayman al-Zawahiri said the terrorist organization would not stand idly
by while "these (Israeli) shells burn our brothers. 'All the world is a
battlefield open in front of us,' said the Egyptian-born al-Zawahiri,
second-in-command to Osama bin Laden.
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/27/zawahiri.ap/ The media is also
saying bin-Laden will make some type of message of support for the
Arabs. "Another new audio or video message from bin Laden was also
expected in the coming days and was planned to deal with Gaza and
Lebanon, according to IntelCenter. The U.S.-based independent group
provides counter terrorism information to the U.S. government and
media.: http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/07/27/zawahiri.ap/ That
would be a real neat trick considering the real Osama bin-Laden is dead!
The fact the US is supplying the ordnance and weaponry Israel is using
to slaughter innocent civilians shows the Israelis and AmeriKKKan ruling
elites are totally indifferent to the loss of innocent lives. The US
media will even make a major leap of deception and spin it to make it
seem Hamas and Hezbollah which were elected by their respective supports
as part of the Palestinian and Lebanese governments are united with
al-Qaeda. Meanwhile the real facts regarding the supposed flashpoint
that started all this will be suppressed and swept down the memory hole
as usual. As I have noted in previous posts, the lies Israel used to
justify their war against Lebanon do not hold up under close scrutiny.
The fact of the matter is, the Israeli troops and tank crew that were
killed and captured (not kidnaped as the US media sock puppets reported)
were in Lebanese territory, they had violated Lebanese territorial
space. The Lebanese did not come into Israeli territory and kidnap
Israeli soldiers and tank crews to facilitate a prisoner exchange! But
the propaganda and psychological warfare surrounding Israel's unprovoked
aggression into Lebanon and Palestine are merely the tip of the iceberg
in a much wider geopolitical and strategic operation. It is all part of
the Anglo-AmeriKKKan and Israeli axis of evil's overarching plan to
invade, control and hold the region militarily, so they can expropriate
and control the resources and the means of getting oil and gas from the
Caspian Sea and Persian Gulf regions into global (Western and Asian)
markets. It is part and parcel to the real reasons the US is in
Afghanistan: to secure access to Caspian Sea resources via construction
of trans-Afghanistan oil and natural gas pipelines (as well as control
the opium trade). It is also why the US plutocrats and their NATO allies
waged their illegal war in the Balkans: to prepare the landscape to
secure European routes for gas and oil pipelines through that region and
control the drug trade from Afghanistan into Eastern and Western Europe!
The US mind control machinery did an excellent job of suppressing
information about the war crimes and lethal devastation the US and NATO
committed in the Balkans. Unfortunately for the US and Israel, the Arab
world has their own telecommunications setup. It makes it harder for the
Western mind control apparatus to dupe the masses here when the photos
and images of the carnage the US and Israel have caused in the region
are being flashed around the world for all to see. Make no mistake about
it, Israel is a key player in the Anglo-AmeriKKKan oil and resource
scramble. Israel has its own energy and resource needs (oil and water).
Like any true barbarian from the Steppes of Central Eurasia, the Khazars
will pillage, plunder and take what is not theirs' to get them. As
reported by Michel Chossudovsky in his recent piece on the Global
Research Website, the Ashkenazim are right in the thick of the war for oil.
"But there is another dimension which directly relates to the war on
Lebanon. Whereas Russia has been weakened, Israel is slated to play a
major strategic role in 'protecting' the Eastern Mediterranean transport
and pipeline corridors out of Ceyhan. The bombing of Lebanon is part of
a carefully planned and coordinated military road map. The extension of
the war into Syria and Iran has already been contemplated by US and
Israeli military planners. This broader military agenda is intimately
related to strategic oil and oil pipelines. It is supported by the
Western oil giants which control the pipeline corridors. In the context
of the war on Lebanon, it seeks Israeli territorial control over the
East Mediterranean coastline. ..Israel is now part of the Anglo-American
military axis, which serves the interests of the Western oil giants in
the Middle East and Central Asia. While the official reports state that
the BTC pipeline will 'channel oil to Western markets', what is rarely
acknowledged is that part of the oil from the Caspian sea would be
directly channeled towards Israel. In this regard, an underwater
Israeli-Turkish pipeline project has been envisaged which would link
Ceyhan to the Israeli port of Ashkelon and from there through Israel's
main pipeline system, to the Red Sea. The objective of Israel is not
only to acquire Caspian sea oil for its own consumption needs but also
to play a key role in re-exporting Caspian sea oil back to the Asian
markets through the Red Sea port of Eilat. The strategic implications of
this re-routing of Caspian sea oil are far-reaching." The War on Lebanon
and the Battle for Oil by Michel Chossudovsky

The events we see unfolding have been on the drawing board for quite
some time now. The corporate elites and global bankers, the real shot
callers, don't care thousands of innocent lives will be lost; that too
is part of their dastardly plan for global depopulation via perpetual
wars mixed with public and private policies that promote sterility,
create famine and deadly pandemics (see the National Security Study
Memorandum 200 (NSSM 200) - April 1974 to see just how diabolical and
psychotic these people are). Israel's war on Lebanon is just one piece
in a complex puzzle designed to benefit numerous players known and
unknown: the Ashkenazim Zionists, the multinational oil consortiums, the
military-industrial-technology hydra, the international financiers and
the New World Order afficionados. They all have a symbiotic relationship
with each other. They are working hard to bring their New World Order
into existence, where the bulk of humanity will be reduced to cannon
fodder, wage slaves, debt peons, Pavlovian consumers or prisoners. In
this case the main culprits and identifiable axis of evil members are
the US, Britain, Israel, their agents, pawns and operatives like the US
Congress, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the Council on
Foreign Relations and the American Enterprise Institute to name a few.
Keep this in mind as events continue to unfold, the bloodletting and the
carnage escalate.

Any tips for my savings goals?
Hey! I'm a 15 year old high-school student who has had a job at Mc Donald's since my 14th birthday! :) Im also going to china this spring break! :D
My financial situation As of Dec 1:
In debt $2500 to a family member. With some selling of stuff and side jobs this has been reduced.
My current Financial Situation:
My debt is down to $1500. I will have this paid by February 1.
After this is paid i have 2 pay checks coming before my trip, which will be SPENDING MONEY!.
So when i get back from china I will be debt free and had an awesome trip.
My parents are giving me a car July 16th if I pass my licensee test. Im responsible for every expense related to it.
I plan to save $1700 to pay my first years insurance. :)
Anyways, saving has become so easy cause im only 15 with no bills! :) And i work 30 hours a week cause i love my job and got a second promotion, a Team Leader at Mc D's.
----
So. basically i just wanted to get that all written out! Any tips or advice from your savings experience?
Thanks Primericaisbad! I guess I don't really need to blow my money in China. I checked out an online retirement calculator, and based on what even $500 dollars of that will be when I'm 50 I think I'll save! :)
Gosh I love not having bills. :)
Jackson, thanks for the answer! My checks are $500 each, so im pretty sure $1000 wil be enough spending money. The trip includes EVERYTHING, transportation, hotels, food, etc. Im just going to throw everything out of my suitcases and come back with all new stuff from CHINA! :)
Good second opinion on the retirement too.
Congrats on being more mature than 90% of the adults I deal with daily.
First, don't assume you're going to blow everything in China. Try to be frugal and really think before you spend your money. When you get back, try to establish an emergency fund. Also, start saving towards your retirement. It's never too early and you'll find yourself way ahead of the curve if you start socking money away now.
You can have fun like a kid at your age, or you can have a little less fun and retire when you're in your 30-40s because you started saving at such a young age.
Best of luck and enjoy your trip!
I have to wonder what is wrong with so many people when so many bad things are going on .?
Billions being spent to export jobs (THE BUILDING OF A SUPER HIGHWAY TO TRANSPORT FOREIGN GOODS TO AMERICA )
This reduces demand for our own products made here because of lower wages in developing nations .
Trillions of dollar of debt to fund a war with no end insight or any hope of peace being achieved in the next 50 years .

This nation has never been more at risk then it is today because of our policies .
We have spent 50 years exploiting the resources of other nations supporting dictators who later turn on us and The middle east is the tip of the iceberg .
People around the globe hate this nation for exploiting them .
We lease copper mines in Chile where workers are killed at alarming rates and the practice does not end there.
Hundreds of other small nations have been exploited by American capitalists .
We will pay for this .

how are we going to weather the meltdown that is coming...?
Is America going to financially collapse?
Dr. Larry Bates, a former bank CEO, a former member of the
Tennessee House of Representatives,
where he was chairman of the powerful committee on
banking and commerce
how did we get in such a mess?
This country has always done so well economically.
Well the prosperity has been a facade,
We have a debt-based monetary system.
In 1913 we gave a private bank called
the Federal Reserve, which by the way is neither federal
and has doubtful reserves, it is a private bank
that is owned by member banks... why do we call it federal?
thats part of the ruse, you know in
Germany one of the old banking families,
Nathan Rothschild, said, "Give me control of a nations
monetary system and I care not who writes their laws."
If you get control of a nation's monetary system,
you control everything that is going on.
we have more debt than there is cash.
We have roughly a forty trillion dollar domestic debt.
But see that is not the worst part of it,
we have the hedge funds, the derivatives, we estimate
that the notional value, and I emphasize "notional value"
is over four hundred trillion dollars.
Three times,the total domestic debt
of the entire world, and this is what is unraveling right
now, it is leverage upon leverage upon leverage.
How do we service debt? With money.
Our personal walk around money is about 8 trillion so minus that from the 40 trillion gives us thirty-two trillion of the
debt...the debtors have been asked to do the impossible,
pay back money that does not exist
Where does the buck stop, does it stop with the most
powerful person in the United States,
the President of the United States?
Ultimately we will have a collapse,
The most power person is not the President, but the
Chairman of the Federal Reserve.
There is either going to be a collapse or
printing of money, which means big inflation.
The President can do very little,
the only thing any president can do to help
the economy is reduce your taxes.
Now the recent Nobel Prize winner in economics at the
University of Arizona, or Arizona State University in
Tempe, criticized President Bush because he said he
didn't ask for enough tax cuts, and I agree with him.
We have one candidate that is saying I am going to lower
taxes for 95 percent of the American people, well forty to
forty-five percent of the American people pay no taxes,
so mathematically that is impossible to lower taxes.
So is the candidate talking about
additional welfare programs?
In reality the only thing the president can do is
reduce the size and scope of government and reduce your
taxes. Who really runs the country?
The Chairman of the Federal Reserve, is more powerful than any president of the United States,he determines what the average persons car payment is going to be, what their house payment is going to be,
even whether they have a job or not.
That is total control.
we are in a crisis, we are in one big mess.
People that have money in banks,
it is guaranteed, FDIC insurance, to what,
a hundred thousand dollars?
two hundred fifty thousand
for retirement plans.
Well the FDIC can cover roughly one and a half cents on the dollar John Maynard Keynes,
the architect of our current economic system, and anybody
who studies economics at the high school, college,
post graduate level will study Keynes in Economics.
John Maynard Keynes wrote a book back in 1920 called,
"The Economic Consequences of the Peace."
He said by continuing process of inflation,
governments can confiscate secretly and unobserved
an important part of the wealth of its citizens.
He said there is no more sure; no more subtle way
to overturn the existing basis of society
than to debouch or destroy the currency.
Now listen to this, he said it engages all of the
products of economic law that come down on the
side of destruction and does it in a manner that not
one person in a million can diagnose.
So are there solutions to this crisis?
Oh absolutely.
How about our money in life insurance companies? If the people they have loaned your money to can't pay them can they pay you?
As a banker I have literally
created millions of dollars out of thin air with a stroke of
my pen, it is what we call PFA banking; pluck from air.
Then we charge interest on that which we create out
of nothing under the fractional reserve banking system.
gold and silver is money, anything else is credit.

We are at the tipping point,I believe we have a minimum of two years,
